Test drive
The main area of application, in which the laser is nearly without competition, is the non contact distance measurement vehicle - road for performance characterisation. In the sector of tyre test running, the laser offers the possibility to scan the tyre's surface on a test device, i.e. the entire tyre surface is measured after fixed driving cycles.
So that, apart from genuine wear and tear, also saw tooth formation, washing out, possible rolling off the rim, etc. is analysed and documented.
Further possible laser applications are in-motion deformation measurements of the tyre.
