Positioning tasks
The high reproducibility, insensitivity with regard to differing reflecting properties of surfaces and colours, measurement on hot surfaces, and the output of a distance value offer many advantages for a number of positioning tasks in steel production (e.g. coil positioning, plate slab positioning, etc.) compared to switching systems like photoelectric barriers or callipers.
